I have been writing about my weight loss and I will continue to do it but, this Fat Momma has other stuff going on in her life! I'll breeze through the weight loss update right quick. Yesterday was going great until the afternoon and I got SUPER stressed out and all I wanted was a Dr Pepper! If you know me at all you know I love me some DP!! I powered through it but, I did buy a 2 liter of the wal-mart brand of Diet Dr. Pepper which I can have 15oz daily. I personally think that wal-mart brand tastes better than the real stuff. And its cheaper. The results of my weigh in the morning reflected another pound lost. That makes 4.5 since Monday! Suck it, fat cells! No, really, suck it!
Ok, now the life stuff. I have been blessed with being able to stay home with my son for six months and I have loved every minute of it but, it is time to go back to work. I have been looking for awhile but, nothing had panned out for me. I kept telling myself that the right opportunity will come along and God has prepared the right place for me to be. A few months ago, I had talked to a gentleman about a sales position at a hotel here in town. The hotel has been open for awhile and is under new ownership, newly renovated, and open under a new name. The pay wasn't what I was looking for and honestly, I wasn't really ready to go back to work. Fast forward to yesterday and I saw the same posting online. Now, the hotel market has been very slim this year and I am chomping at the bit to get back in the biz. One thing I know and do well is work in the hospitality industry. I am more an operations girl (General Manager) but, I can still rock in the sales department. So, I went for an interview today and it turns out the guy working as the interim GM used to run the two full service Holiday Inns here and was the President of the Lubbock Hotel/Motel association! I didn't recognize him because he had shaved off his bears and had cut his hair. This man is a Rockstar in the hotel world. I was sold! Knowing his back ground and what he is capable of, I knew what ever property he was working at would be golden. The interview went well and now I just have to charm and win over the owner and his wife next week and HOPEFULLY I will be gainfully employed! I'm very excited! Already doing so research for some new business. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL. Very modern and clean. Selling the product will not be an issue. Just praying this is what God has been preparing for me!
~Until tomorrow!

Day 2: So the second day was pretty much a normal day. Just not eating when I'm bored or when I think I am hungry. Eating all the protein really does keep me fuller longer! Also, I'm focused on doing other things rather than find stuff to shove in my mouth. My thing with food is not because I feel emotionally empty and I use it to fill a "void' or that I hide behind food or that food is a comfort for me... I just love food! the flavor, the smell, the texture. It's great! Anyways, the most interesting part of yesterday was dinner. We happened to have a package of deer meat in the freezer that had already been cut for kabobs. Deer meat is exxxtremely lean and has a lot of protein which is perfect for us. I ended up making a stir fry using the deer meat and used a lot of veggies. Since noodles and rice are a big no no, I needed to find something to pair with our stir fry. Lentils. Never made them. They are apart of the legume family(bean-ish) and I had never eaten let alone prepared them. I read the directions of course and they weren't bad but, gotta figure out a way to pump up the flavor. Any suggestions are welcome!
Now the most important thing! Since Monday, I am down 3.5lbs! Which is great because the book states that women will generally not see an impact on the scale until 6 weeks but we will see inches lost instead. Now, I KNOW that this weight lost is water weight and bloat but, a loss is a loss, right??? I found a great excel spread sheet to track weight loss. All it needs is a graph I <3 graphs! So, now that I am figuring out the menu thing for the 4 Hour Body diet, I move on to the work out aspect. The book really endorses using a kettle bell and the kettlebell swing:
I'm definitely going to check this out. I have heard lots of good stuff about the kettlebell and I have seen the competitions on ESPN and them girls are in RIDICULOUSLY good shape. Until then, I will be Zumba-ing! I really like the Zumba work outs because they are lots of fun and i find myself laughing because I know I look hilarious trying to do those dance moves. Sometimes if it is too complicated, I just freestyle! *Dunananana Cant touch this!*
I am definitely looking forward to tomorrow! It is supposed to be cold and rainy. My favorite kind of weather! I would love to live in Seattle! I also found a great recipe for a stew that I am going to try out in the crock pot. Now, the crock pot and I have become BFFs! I can make lots of good dishes in it that go along with our new eating regiment. I also found out, that we can have sugar free jello in MODERATION! I stopped by my brother's last night while I was walking Duchess and was telling him about my newly found treat and he happened to have a package of sugar free jello. As much as I wanted to run home and tear that little envelope open and make the jello, I refrained and waited until this morning to make it. Is it really sad that I am this excited about jello???
Daniel is down for his nap and I need to call my mom and chat with her. I haven't talked to her in a couple days and I need to catch up with her.
~Until we meet again tomorrow!~

In the begininng...
God created the heavens and the earth, light, the sky, vegetation, animals and man and woman. He also created chocolate, chicken fajita nachos from Rosa's, chili cheese french fries, cheese burgers, swiss cake rolls, chicken fried steak, loaded baked potatoes... you get the picture. He also created me and I LOVE all the previous mentioned delicacies. My whole life I have always been big. Wait, that's not true. The very end of my senior year in high school and the first couple months of my freshman year in college, I was at about 155lbs. Not bad on a 5'7 frame and curves to boot. I have tried several ways to loose weight and some worked moderately but, most of the time, it was nothing but failure. And failure is NOT something I am good at. Not in my vocabulary.
Fast forward to January 2010. I was at my heaviest and at a crossroads emotionally in my life. A guy I had been dating off and on for 3 years had come back in my life for the millionth time and I was thinking maybe it would work this time between us but, I new deep down it would not. I had joined eHarmony months before after my mom and nagged and nagged me to give it a try. After no serious bites, I quit paying for the service. Little did I know, that my profile was still active, meaning that paying members could see my pic and my profile. Since it was the beginning of the year, eHarmony of course was running a free communication special. I ended up getting an email from a 23 year old guy. Red flag! I didn't date younger guys. I wanted an older, refined man! I read his profile and liked what I read: he was a veteran in the air force, was very family oriented, was going to school at Tech. Ok, maybe I would give him a chance. We started to email back and forth and eventually went on a date, then a second date and then four months later, we were married! Dan was very different from any man I had ever dated but, it was so right. A little less than 4 months later, we found out we were expecting our first child! People always say life changes when you have a baby. Boy were they right! We welcomed Daniel Steven Minor into the world April 21, 2011 at 10:19pm and my life has never been the same. There is absolutely no way to express how much I love my son. I cant even try because there is no way. Its overwhelming. I never though I could love as much and as deeply as I love that little boy!
Once you become a parent, you begin thinking about the future and I thought hard. I thought of all the things that I wanted for my son. and the things I didn't want. Most of all, I wanted Daniel to be proud of me. To tell people, "That's my Momma" and for him to look up to me and admire me. And as shallow as it may seem, I don't ever want to embarrass him. I don't want to be a Fat Momma. Period. By chance, I saw a segment on "The Doctors" about a book called "4 Hour Body". I researched the book and ended up in a bookstore reading the book. It made sense. I could do this. Slow carb. Lots of protein. No sugar or dairy. I talked to Dan about it and he agreed, we could do this together.
So, here we are:
Day 1: Weighed myself. Ouch. Not my heaviest but, close. Nice big breakfast. Eggs will be a challenge for me since I don't really like eggs. Scrambled with homemade hot sauce is the only way. oh, and boiled. Beans and broccoli topped of breakfast. Definitely different. Surprisingly, I didn't get hungry for about 5 hours. Had a big chicken salad with salsa for the dressing and beans. Not bad either. I didn't start to get restless until about 3:30. I wanted to eat! I opted for a big glass of water with a slice of lemon and i overcame my urge!!! Dinner was a chili with lots of means and meat. Also, pretty tasty. I did kind of get hungry about 9pm but, a half cup of cottage cheese(only dairy allowed) and a glass of water got me over my hunger. End of day one and it wasn't so bad!
